All you need is love...

There are many health benefits to being in love. In this week’s blog post I am going to discuss the health benefits of being in love whether that be with a partner, parent, or friend.

Firstly people who are in a loving relationship tend to make better health decisions and take care of themselves. This then translates to fewer doctor visits! Spread the love!

People who are in good relationship and ultimately get married has been shown to reduce depression in both men and women. Along with exercise and vitamin D being married will also help with depression, who knew?

Have high blood pressure? In a study in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine researchers found that happily married couples had the best blood pressure. It was more likely that having positive relationships give similar benefits.

University of New York at Stony Brook used MRI and looked at brains of people who were in love. They compared new romances to strongly connected long term couples and found that the areas of the brain that lit up were the reward areas of the brain. So being in love is like winning a lot of money! They also noticed that the couples in long term relationships had less activation in the area of the brain that produces anxiety!

The CDC reported that long term relationships also kept pain under control. A study found that married people were less likely to complain of headaches and back pain. Don’t worry when you come in the office we won’t be suggesting you jump into marriage!

Did you know that like a chiropractic adjustment, a loving relationship can boost your immune system? Researchers found that people with positive emotions are less likely to get sick after being exposed to the cold or flu. It also leads to faster healing.

Lastly a loving relationship will lead to a longer happier life!

We hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
